Jens Lindemann will perform Allan Gilliland's concerto "Dreaming of the Masters" with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra on May 8, 2012 at 7:30 pm. Having already performed this work around the world in Canada, Asia, the U.K., South America and Austria with Berlin on the books for New Years Eve 2012, the U.S. premiere has been reserved for New York City at the iconic Carnegie Hall.
Some reviews of this work have already been:
"It takes your breath away with Lindemann dazzling and seducing in equal measure"
-Brass Band World (as 'CD of the month')
"Without question, Jens Lindemann is one of the finest trumpet and brass players on the planet. He can effortlessly move across all styles from Classical, Big Band, Jazz, Brass Band-you name it and Jens can do it. Dreaming of the Masters shows the full extent of his range and technique, his sublime musicianship and his purest of sounds. Stupendous stuff!"
-The Brass Herald
"Jens Lindemann is a master of his many instruments - trumpets large and small, cornets high and low, plus the silky smooth flugel horn - and an exceptionally gifted musical artist across the stylistic range. His fabulously rich tone and awesome technique is admired on both sides of the Atlantic, but like all the greats, it is the musical flavour of his performances that lingers in the memory. The three movements of Allan Gilliand's "Dreaming of the Masters" traverse the blues and jazz world, from the raunchy blues and up-tempo big band styling of 101 Damnations to the ethereal percussion and muted effects in Prayer that provide an otherworldly back drop to the flexible flugel and cornet solo lines, to the Mexican salsa feel of the breathless, virtuoso finale - fabulous."
-World Of Brass
Canadian trumpeter Jens Lindeman has won many awards and nominations during his career as well as an honorary doctorate; he is generally regarded as one of the world's most celebrated trumpet soloists. Right from the start with "Dreaming Of The Masters", with its opening notes on the trumpet, it's not hard to hear why.
